Facilities Operations Manager
Location: Columbus, OH

Purpose of the position

The Facilities Operations Manager of the Grange Insurance Audubon Center (GIAC) will manage a LEED-certified 18,000 sq. ft. building and its 2 acre site.

 
Essential Functions:
  • Manage the day-to-day physical operations of GIAC including the physical property, horticulture, third party services, security, janitorial and overall maintenance of the physical plant.
  • Monitor and schedule repairs/maintenance to ensure that they are handled in a timely manner utilizing outside service contractors. Contribute to the team effort of the Audubon Center.
  • Act as key support staff for community groups using the facility for meetings and events.
 
Additional Functions:
  • Supervise service contracts and ensure compliance with contract terms and GIAC policies and goals.
  • Work with key staff to ensure the impeccable care and stewardship of the physical property.
  • Ensure that night, weekend and special event operations run as smoothly as the weekday operations.
  • Collect and respond to work order requests from other GIAC staff members.
  • Set up rooms including tables and chairs for meetings and rentals.
  • Maintain physical phone and security systems (security pad codes/keys).
  • Schedule and perform daily and weekly walkthroughs in all areas of the physical plant, especially concerning cleanliness, structural soundness and safety. The goal is always to enhance the visitor experience.
 
Relationships:

Internal: GIAC Center Director; other GIAC staff;
External: Metro Parks personnel; Community leaders; GIAC supporters

 
Equipment:

Computer; telephone systems; security systems; landscaping equipment; appropriate maintenance equipment

 
Qualifications: (e.g., education, training, experience, licenses and skills)
  • College degree or equivalent.
  • Three to Five years related work experience required; minimum two years supervisory experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks through use of effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Professional work ethic.
  • Working knowledge of phone/data/security systems related to the facility.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekend/evenings.
  • Experience in event set-up management and working with outside contractors.
  • A can-do attitude and a tolerant, friendly personality with a great sense of humor are essential.
 

Physical Requirements : (e.g., lifting, reaching, climb, push/pull, etc.)

Walk the property repeatedly, lift, bend and twist as necessary in regard to maintenance and daily operations.
