Position Title: Communications Associate

| Purpose of the Position |
Now in its second century of conservation, Audubon is seeking a motivated individual in its New York City headquarters to fill the full-time role of Communications Associate.
The candidate’s role is to work closely with the Senior Communications Manager to build awareness of the Audubon and Toyota TogetherGreen initiative (www.TogetherGreen.org). We are seeking a motivated self-starter to provide media, public relations and e-communication support; write drafts and disseminate media and marketing materials; and promote TogetherGreen’s vision, activities and accomplishments to key Audubon and partner audiences.
The Communications Associate will become an integral part of a communications/ education team divided between New York, Washington D.C., California, and Vermont and will have the opportunity to assume significant responsibility to work independently and manage projects from concept to production.

| Essential Functions |
- Contribute to the writing of pitch letters, press releases, web articles and other editorial products related to the program’s grant recipients, volunteer events and other conservation activities
- Compile targeted lists of media throughout the U.S. through various means (e.g. Cision, Yellow Book, etc)
- Generate positive media coverage and broader community awareness of TogetherGreen’s projects, personnel, initiatives and achievements
- Read, identify and compile ongoing list of TogetherGreen media coverage
- Secure and facilitate media interviews for TogetherGreen representatives
- Place advertisements for various components of TogetherGreen
- Maintain and promote TogetherGreen’s social media presence, including profiles on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Flickr
- Monitor, make recommendations and edit content on www.TogetherGreen.org
- Analyze media hit and web statistics and compile periodic reports for senior staff
- Assist with e-communications outreach, through Mail Chimp and eMill, to engage target audiences
- Write TogetherGreen-related articles for Audubon publications
- Liaise directly, and in some cases, work on location, with video and photographic vendors to document TogetherGreen activities and results
- Help coordinate with Audubon State Offices, Centers and Chapters for volunteer and press events, press releases and outreach
- Keep communications team abreast of timelines and deadlines
- Perform related duties, as assigned

| Qualifications |
- Two to three years professional experience working in communications or journalism
- BA degree required, preferably in communications, marketing or journalism
- Commitment to environmental protection
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with Cision or Vocus
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks and deadlines
- Excellent communication skills (written & verbal)
- Knowledge of web technologies and applications, including content management and web traffic a plus
- Knowledge of digital video filming and editing a plus
