Great River Birding Trail

Where: Ten states bordering the Mississippi River.

What: The Audubon Great River Birding Trail is a web-based, interactive map guiding users to hundreds of parks, overlooks, federal refuges and other spots where birders and others can see wildlife and their habitats along both sides of the entire Mississippi River from the headwaters at Lake Itasca, Minn., to the Gulf of Mexico at Venice, La. Sites within about 30 miles from the river, following the scenic Great River Road, are included in the 10 river states.
