Neotropical Migrants of Conservation Concern - Landbirds

In the U.S., one or more of the target migratory landbird species of conservation concern have been reported at 965 identified or recognized Important Bird Areas throughout 41 states, based on analyses of available data in the Important Bird Areas database (See target landbird species) as of the fall 2008. Two-hundred-two of these Important Bird Areas were categorized as high priority sites for the conservation of these Neotropical migrant landbirds, based on comparisons using the Global and Continental IBA Criteria framework. Some of these have already been prioritized as Global for these or other species. Additional IBAs are still in the process of being identified, and data are still being compiled.
