Over
sixty Important Bird Areas have been identified along
the U.S. Gulf Coast stretching from Texas to Louisiana,
Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida, with some already
being affected by the recent Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill.
These Important Bird Areas are crucial to numerous bird
species, including some of conservation concern.
