Saving Important Bird Areas: Step Two Form

Step Two of the Saving Important Bird Areas Screening incorporates conservation opportunity and feasability into the overall process of determining the highest priority sites for action. It is an application process for an IBA to become a Tier 2 or 3 IBA in the Saving Important Bird Areas Initiative. In this step of screening process, flyway teams will look at the results from the Step One results and propose conservation work at IBAs to benefit birds by increasing a limiting factor, decreasing a threat, or adding protection to limit future loss. Following an open standards approach, each case statement will articulate specific conservation targets, strategies and outcomes, and will explain the relationship of this proposed work to Audubonís strategic plan. Case statements should identify the scope and impact of the project as well as the projected costs. Cases will be submitted via a standardized form and submissions will be evaluated in Step Three by a team of senior leaders.
