Where We Work

Each place in which IAP invests has been identified as an Important Bird Area (IBA). We tend to focus on IBA's that are critical habitat for migratory bird species although a site's significance for endemic birds and general biodiversity weighs heavily in our selection of locale in which to work. During this, the start-up phase of IAP, the program works solely in Latin America and the Caribbean and primarily in countries with active organizations that are dedicated to the protection of birds and their habitats and linked through BirdLife International Partnership. Currently IAP is actively involved with projects in the Bahamas, Belize, El Salvador, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Chile, and Honduras .

We take the lead on building alliances between the local, on-the-ground organization and members of our extensive Audubon network of scientists, educators, policy experts and funders to strengthen the conservation effectiveness of our partner organizations.
